Over the last five years, the Christian Democratic Party has been pivotal in helping NSW maintain its AAA Credit Rating and ensuring NSW become the number one economy in Australia.
The Christian Democratic Party has a history of 35 years in NSW under the leadership of the Rev. the Hon. Fred Nile. I have had the privilege of working alongside Rev. Nile for the past 5 years.
In the current Parliament the Christian Democratic Party holds the balance of power.
The Government holds the majority in the Legislative Assembly and 19 seats in the Legislative Council. The Opposition, Greens, Shooters, Fishers and Farmers Party and the Animal Justice Party together hold 19 seats. This means the Christian Democrats have the two remaining votes. These two votes, at times, are responsible for the final passage of the NSW Government’s legislative agenda.
In 2013, the Christian Democratic Party supported the leasing of our Ports – Port Kembla, Port Botany and Port Newcastle. This allowed the NSW Government to establish ‘Restart NSW’, a dedicated infrastructure program, which over the last 2014-2015 financial year, saw $9 billion deposited into this infrastructure fund.
In 2015, following an Inquiry chaired by the Rev. the Hon. Fred Nile, the Christian Democratic Party supported the long-term leasing of the electricity network. This allowed the establishment of the Rebuilding NSW Infrastructure program – a $20billion dollar investment into building new infrastructure in NSW.
The Restart NSW fund will be used for major projects that will improve the productivity and competitiveness of the State across all sectors. Rebuilding NSW is expected to generate over 100,000 jobs and WILL boost our state economy by almost $300 billion in just over 20 years.
The Christian Democratic Party has delivered for the state of New South Wales and will continue to work to ensure we protect and look after the families of New South Wales and their communities.
